Las Salinas School Renovation Phase 2

Minimum Fundraising Commitment: $2,500, including $150 non-refundable deposit

This is phase 2 of a renovation project Hope Corps completed in July. "Surf and Serve" is a surf-focused service retreat at Magnific Rock Popoyo! Venture off your surfboard and immerse yourself in Nicaraguan culture. The surf-focused service trips offer a refreshing twist to the typical Hope Corps schedule. Volunteers spend half of the week learning to surf one of Nicaragua's most friendly breaks and the other half of the week working hand-in-hand with the community to renovate a local primary school and add a much-needed bathroom. Surf the waves and make a lasting impact. Surf & Serve.

Bocas Del Toro, Panama

Fundraising Commitment: $2,500, including $150 non-refundable deposit

Bocas Del Toro is a unique place off the northwest coast of Panama with biodiverse rainforests and beautiful beaches. As the economy continues to shift from agrarian to tourism, the local indigenous populations remain marginalized with less access to schooling. As a Hope Corps volunteer, you will be helping to build a two classroom addition to the preschool in Bocas Del Toro. The expansion will allow for more student enrollment, and an opportunity at education for the children in the community.

Sacred Valley, Peru

Fundraising Commitment: $2,800 including $350 non-refundable deposit

The Sacred Valley is known as the breadbasket of the Incas for its agricultural production that fed an empire. The picturesque valley sits at 10,000ft above sea level and is rich in history and archeological ruins, the most famous of which is Machu Picchu. This area and surrounding communities still take part in traditional farming practices well suited for harsh mountain terrain, but increasingly water, the most basic necessity for farming communities, is becoming more scarce. Hope Corps volunters will be supporting small-scale farmers and agricultural development in the Sacred Valley by constructing a water reservoir and agricultural school in the community of Sacclio.
